The world has a natural propensity to celebrate the talented, the rich, the famous, the fabulous, the “high performer”, the “go-getter”. Over the years, particularly since working at a large investment bank for 8 years, I realised how much energy and effort I have poured into the persona that I thought the world needed to see. That my colleagues needed to see. That my stakeholders needed to see. That my bosses needed to see.
Once I could see myself a little better, and accept myself as I am, I found that I had passion and reserve for other things outside of work that I could tap into. Everyday, I am learning that slowly but surely is the way forward. At the moment, I’m still exploring how to reconcile my passions outside of work. But I am much happier with my direction now. It’s curiosity and a willingness to experiment. It’s years of small baby steps, deliberate practice, and resilience in the face of setbacks. I am looking forward to where it will take me.
I named this particular look ‘Gone with the wind fabulous’ because it was super windy (thankfully not raining) in London when I took these photos and its safe to say I felt rather fabulous 🙂 Most people that saw me wearing this dress thought it was a skirt. But, its actually a dress from Coast Stores which I bought last season. I have paired it with these beautiful statement necklace from Mirina Collections and these Sophia Webster Izzy Court Shoes. The charlotte Olympia Smokin’ Clutch is a highly addictive accessory that is very difficult to stop wearing. This petite cigarette box purse in turquoise perspex with silver and hand-painted enamel detailing provides the immediate sensation of fashion fulfillment.
This beautiful Yaya printed dress from Coast Stores is truly a show stopper. The dress features a bardot neckline and a catwalk inspired floral skirt with statement volume. The subtle pleats at the waist create a modern look. While the tulle under the skirt area creates an exaggerated fullness and dramatic flaring. The vibrant luxe pattern on the skirts adds a modern touch whilst the waist band secures with two popper buttons for a perfect fit. Therefore, Its not a huge a surprise the dress is currently Out of Stock. However, you can enter your email to get notified once it becomes available.
Here are 3 tips for this look:
- As I always say, a statement necklace in particular requires that you limit your other accessories.
- This Mirina Collection statement Ally necklace will always look better on a Bardot or off shoulder/top or dress for example and definitely not a high neck one. Mirina Collections is offering my readers 20% off their entire collections- Use Code: MirinaGirls
- I always prefer dresses or skirt that are not floor length or that are high but low in the front that allow your shoes to be visible
- Swap the Court Shoes for a Black or Gold sandals to turn into an evening look
To anyone reading this- You are talented enough. You are good enough. You are Gone with the wind fabulous.
