2018 Goals

New Year. New You. New beginnings. New Moments. New Opportunities. New Vision. New adventures. New 2018 Goals. Whilst I could have made up an endless list of New years resolutions and personal goals for 2018 such as:

Be more intentional with my Quiet Time
Do more service for God through church and volunteering
Schedule mobile phone and social media detox periodically
Blog atleast once a week
Monetize my blog to create passive income
Become a published Book Author
Travel to atleast 4 destinations
Make Decluttering in my home a daily activity
Connect with and support more mums through the Notjustamum community and my blog
Expand the Notjustamum community and my blog network
Mentor some of the participants from my first Careers workshop
Eat healthier- Don’t eat after 8pm
Go to bed early- sleep for atleast 8 hours everyday
Drink more water
Join an exercise or gym class
Make more phone calls and connect more face-face instead of through whatsapp and social media and text message
Arrange a pamper spa day every quarter

This year just like every other year,  I’m not sticking to a long list of personal 2018 goals and resolutions that might constantly change as priorities and circumstances change and I might beat myself up if I end up not achieving them but instead yet again I would keep it nice and simple…

 

Focus on enjoying every moment

Enjoying every moment could be interpreted in several ways, It could mean more excitement, more fun, more adventures or more exploring. It could mean trying to enjoy important moments more as opposed to taking photos or snapchatting. It could also mean detaching or saying NO to anything or anyone that does not bring enjoyment and satisfaction. From my perspective, I intend to feel more in everyday as it is without waiting to change or achieve anything. I wont wait to buy a new car or move into a bigger house or get a pay rise before I can resolve to enjoy every moment in my life but I can be thankful and grateful to God for what I have right now in my hands and in front of me. Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. Struggle ends when gratitude begins. Learning to be thankful for what you already have whilst you pursue all that you want is so important to being successful in life.

 

 

Life is short
Time is fast
Tomorrow is not guaranteed
No replay
No rewind
So enjoy very moment as it comes

 

Enjoy the little things in life because one day you’ll look back and realise they were the big things.

Enjoy every moment: the good, the bad, the beautiful, the ugly, the ups, the downs, the inspiring, the joys, the laughter, the tantrums, the setbacks, the not so glamorous moments. Thanking God through it all. Each moment is a blessing because in life there are no rewinds only flashbacks. Today is the oldest you’ve ever been and the youngest you’ll ever be again. Therefore, make sure its all worth it.

How do I intend to go about it:

Being thankful for every breath I take
Practice gratitude everyday
Focus on today and how I can do my best to live it to the fullest
Live in the moment. Learn from the past and don’t worry too much about the future
Fully embrace the now, no matter what the situation
Apologize when I should
Let go of what I cant change
Laugh constantly
Do the things I love
Don’t sweat the small stuff

Its time to unfold new pages from a blank 365 page book and start a new chapter in your life. At the end of the day we only live once hence I intend to enjoy every moment in 2018 as much as possible despite any challenges and obstacles so help me God.

    My main goal is just to do the best I can in whatever I do. But your list is pretty spot on. Letting go of what cannot be changed, I think I will add this and make it number 2.

    Good luck in achieving your goals. I can definitely relate to the need to ‘enjoy the moment’ more. This is especially true when I’m out having a meal or travelling as part of a trip that I’m going to write about on my blog. It’s easy to get caught up in taking the perfect photo or Instagram story, when really I should try to enjoy my time too.

    I share lots of your goals – particularly the sleep one and trying to carve some time out just to read a book. I have a huge and growing pile of books I never get around to because I’m too busy blogging!

    I love your 2018 goal, enjoying the moment is so important and in this day and age I feel like we don’t take time to do so. My goal is to grow my hobbies, to put more effort into them and truly embrace what I love doing.

    Loved this, what a happy positive post. I need to follow some of your advice here, and when I make my list i am definitely including your pamper day once a quarter as I don’t have enough time to myself at the moment! Happy 2018!

    Such a lovely positive post, with some great aspirations. My New Year has started off so badly, and I’m trying not to let it get to me, but all of a sudden I will just do a face like the painting The Scream and it all comes flooding back to me. So I really need to change my outlook, and possibly focusing on a positive list would help me.
